What is the tracking purpose in Real Time marketing used for?

Hi,

I am wondering what exactly the tracking purpose in a compliance profile does? I thought that I was a way to define when to track behavior like email opens, clicks and so on.. But I have tested it by setting the tracking purpose to 'restrictive' and opened an email with a contact who has neither opted in or out from tracjking purpose. The opens and clicks were still shown?

Does any body know why?
