Using development environment on client pc

Hi everybody,

I installed nav 2015 remote client on a pc. I also installed the development environment on the same pc.
Login with the remote client is successful but login to the development environment from the client pc is not successful. Can I only login to the development environment when I am on the server? Or is it also possible form a client pc? For creating reports I need visual studio 2012. I have that installed on a client pc but not on the server. That is why I want to connect via a client pc to the development environment.

Thanks,

Patrick

    Hi,

Please check the below link, system requirement for Developer instance. It is possible to login from client PC.

It is possible to log into the database via development environment from a client PC. All you required is have the necessary permission levels, or else you can use the database login credentials to login to the database.

However what is the error message you are getting.

The server xxx cannot be found. Try again later or contact your system administrator.

    for  xxx I tried:

    ip-adres\sql-server instance name

    and

    domain-name server\sql-server instance name

In order to conect to the development environment, you must be able to access the SQL Server from the remote PC.

You have mentioned that a remote SQL connection is not possible either if I'm not mistaken.

If that's the case, your best bet would probably be to ensure that the necessary SQL ports are open (1433 by default) and the SQL Server Browser activation might be necessary.

You should review your SQL network configuration, and verify if TPC/IP is enabled. technet.microsoft.com/.../hh231672%28v=sql.110%29.aspx

    Good luck!

SQL Browser was not started and I started it. But this did not solved the problem.

TCP/IP enabled. Firewall is OK. I didn't told you it is in an Azure environment.

I now think it I have to make an end point in Azure for the sql-server port to solve the problem.

I can not login at this moment in Azure administration.

I keep you informed of this action will solve the problem.

    Thanks.

The problem was solved by creating an endpoint in in Azure administration for the slq-port.
