Patch solution deployment fails when Model driven app is present

Hi All,

Recently encountered a strange behavior while deploying managed solution patches from Sandbox to Production.

Error message:

0x80050111 An app can’t have multiple site maps.

Verified that the app id in Sandbox and Production is the same.

Moreover, when I deploy the full solution / clone a patch and deploy, the import goes through without any issues.

To replicate:

1. Create a solution with a model drive app. and deploy the managed solution into a different instance.

2. Clone the solution, include only the app and try deploying.

Please let me know if anyone else faces the same issue.

    Workaround:

    Before importing patch / upgrade:

In the target instance, delete the app.

In the target instance, delete the app’s site map

In the target instance, import the patch / upgrade

After importing the patch / upgrade:

In the target instance, in the “My Apps” area, reconfigure the app’s URL and Security Roles (in needed)

    Update:

Issue occurred because an admin user unknowingly updated the app in Production.

This invariably caused issues while trying to import the app from sandbox to production as managed. Solution layering into play here.

As Ryan suggested, deleting and recreating the app solves the problem.

Since there is no way to lock down apps as of now, just something to keep in mind.

    Thanks!
