Work Description not visible on sales order

Hi experts,

When our customer uses his Business Central Cloud (production), the field "Work description" on the sales order page, is not visible.

There are no extensions or personal changes to that page.

When he try to make personal changes to the page (add/remove fields etc.) the field "Work description" is NOT on the list of fields, that can be added. But if he adds the field "Area" (field number 101), then suddenly BC adds a group with the bold text "Work description" and with the fields "Area" and "Work description" in it.

If he then hides the field "Area", both the fields ("Area" and "Work description") and the group with the bold text is removed.

What is going on?

When I log on using my own account to the customers sandbox or production, it works fine: "Work description" is visible as default and I can add and remove it and "Area" one field at a time and do whatever I want.

The customer has been using a trial version of Business Central of some sort before. Maybe that user is set up wrong somewhere?

I hope you can help.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

    You may want to verify user personalization for that specific user?

    Thanks.

    This is the code of that field on the sales order page. So it must be personalisation as the application area is not role specific:

    group("Work Description")

                   {

                       Caption = 'Work Description';

                       field(WorkDescription; WorkDescription)

                       {

                           ApplicationArea = Basic, Suite;

                           Importance = Additional;

                           MultiLine = true;

                           ShowCaption = false;

                           ToolTip = 'Specifies the products or service being offered.';

                           trigger OnValidate()

                           begin

                               SetWorkDescription(WorkDescription);

                           end;

    Hi:)

    Can't you just add the field with "Personalize"?

    When you are on "Sales Order" - page --> Choose "Settings" - "Personalize" - "+ Field"

    Edit: Sorry, I didn't read the correct original post, so obviously this does not answer the question ;)

    Thank you all three for your reply.

    Yes, I also think that it must be some kind of user personalization. But when I look at the page that lists all user personalizations, there are none for that user.

    I use a Danish version, so I am not 100% sure of what the buttons are called in English.

    It is only a problem for one user. The other users have no problems. It is a problem both in sandbox and production.

    The user uses the newest version of Firefox, but according to Microsoft, it is fully supported.

    When the user enter "personalization mode" on the page and press the button "+ field", it looks like this:

    6136.jpg

    The field "Work description" ("Arbejdsbeskrivelse" in Danish) is nowhere to be found! I cannot add it.

    But if I drag ANY of the fields from the right list onto the page under the "Status" field, the - like magic - the field "Work description" and the matching group "Work description" is added automatically as well as the field, I am dragging over. It looks like this:

    8203.jpg

    In the above image, I have added the field "Område" ("Area"). I can move it below the work description and add more fields from the list. That works fine, and I can remove the fields again in any order, I wish. But when I remove the last field, then the group "Work description" and the field "Work description" disappears again.

    The only difference between that user and the other users is that he have had a trial version of Business Central. I think it was on another e-mail address. I don't know much about how that works.

    Any ideas?

    Did you try to clear personalization?

    Hi Marco,

    Thank you. After seeing the responses here, we have raised the issue to Microsoft. I don't think we can do anything about it.

    Best regards,

    Morten

    Hi Suresh,

    At first, there was no personalization. Then we added other fields and then cleared the personalization. Nothing helps.

    Best regards,

    Morten

    Hi Marco,

    Sadly my colleague have decided, that we just close the case without telling Microsoft.

    When our customer adds another field, he can see the field, he needs, so that's fine.

    We expect that Microsoft cannot fix the problem without disturbing the customer and he is okay with the situation as it is now.

    So the case is closed now.

    Once again, thank you very much for your time and comments!
