Is there a way to tell if an action was completed by a workflow or a manual action?

Our workflows are owned by a "service account" called CRM-Admin. There are only a few people who have the password for that account. An action happened that the Audit shows was performed by Admin-CRM. Of course, the action was months ago and no one remembers being logged in as Admin-CRM and performing this action.

Let's say the actions was to change a status on a form. This can be done manually, or by workflow. Is there any way to know whether a user was logged in and manually performed this action, or if it was performed by a workflow owned by said user?

Hi

There are few ways to find this out, the first one that comes to my mind is that you could get the record ID and query the Async Op table (AsyncOperationBase). In your query filter results by regarding object id.
