Enforcing Blocked on Item card upon creation

I want to set up a workflow in Business Central where, whenever an item is created, an approval request is sent to the direct approver. I can run the workflow up to this stage, but I want to enforce the item's block status to "YES," which is not available in the native workflow. I am using the B23 on-premises version and cannot utilize tools like Power Automate or other automations.

    As far as I know, apart from customization, the only way to achieve a similar feature is to use Customer Template. However, this can only limit usage and cannot force users to use Template every time they create a customer.
    More details: Use new templates with same flexibility as configuration templates (Customer, Vendor, Item, and Employee Templates)

    In BC, workflows can’t automatically set the Blocked field on new items. To enforce this, you need a small customization: for example, set Blocked := All in the OnInsert trigger of the Item table (or via a table extension). This way every new item is blocked until it’s approved and unblocked manually.

    Hello,

    As suggested by Yun and Sohail, using item templates, you can ensure every new item defaults to Blocked = All at creation, while the workflow handles sending approval requests and automatically unblocking once approved. So as per your requirement whatever fits best you can consider the same.
