My custom field on the PurchTable isn't showing in the Purchase Order Workflow

I created 2 x custom fields using the '+ Add field' option when personalizing the PurchTable. Then, via System Administrator > Setup > Custom fields.
  1. Created the fields as Type = Picklist
  2. Added values.
  3. Selected the Data Entities.
  4. Selected 'Apply Changes'.
5. In Data Management, I generated new mapping on both entities - both fields now showing on the data entity as expected.

My issue: Neither field is showing up in the conditions list on the workflow (the label on both custom fields begin with 'R'). Is there a job in the background that I need to enable? Any help would be appreciated!

I have been successful completing these exact steps in a DEV environment, and the custom fields were available in the condition list on the w/flow.

As shown, the custom fields are displaying on the PurchTable.

    Hi,

This is one of the limitations of the configurable Custom fields. The query object used by the workflow is not aware of the new fields and for that reason, they will not show up. See also my blog where I talked about the custom fields feature: Custom fields: Handle with care (Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations)

In case you need these two fields in your workflow, you should add them via a customization in Visual Studio.

Thanks for the response Andre! I will definitely have them added on the backend in VS.

I just wanted to let you know that they did end up making their way into the workflow. The caveat being that the custom fields and workflow don't behave as I would expect.
    1. They only display in the Activation list of conditions. (Screen shot 1)
    2. They do NOT display in the conditional decision list (Screen shot 2)
    3. The data in the Picklist shown in the 3rd screen shot is a combination of the values I placed in the 2 separate fields.

Thanks for your reply. Interesting to see that the configured fields do show up in the activation list. I can't remember what I checked back in time when I wrote the blog. Might be the condition.
