POP Receipts not Available for Return

(0) ShareShare

We have several PO's where the receipts are not available for return.  These are inventory items and we do use FIFO, so the cost layer is consumed.

Does anyone have a solution or workaround for this situation?

Thank you,

Donnette

This is a pain, but quite logical since the cost layer is gone.

For me, I usually prefer the manual correction on the inventory level with an AP transaction to get the vendor balance tied as well as Mr. Frank states above.

Yes. You can't create returns for the Receipts which has been sold (Received Items from PO and sold the same items). This case, you need to create Inventory Adjustments to correct the Quantity on hand.

    Hope this helps!!!

Agree with Frank.  Once the layer has been consumed, it can't be returned.  In theory, if you sold it, there is no issue with the stock (we know the reality is not always the case - i.e. you might not have sold those specific items.)

The only other option would be to do the return against a later Goods Receipt for the same supplier that has not been consumed if that is possible.

Donnette, the only way to resolve is do an inventory adjustment to decrement inventory on hand and a credit to the vendor for the value of the goods.
