I understand from reading previous question/answers that there is no test domain environment. We are third-party software developers wanting to integrate our software with F&O - so I am not sure how we can possibly develop and test an integration with Dynamics 365 F&O without requesting access to a customers domain - for development & test purposes. Not something I can imagine most customers would be willing to grant. Any suggestions on the way forward would be appreciated.
This is definitely issue with your access. Are you a owner of the subscription ? If you are owner and you are still facing the issue , you might want to complete this process with the help of whoever is global admin in AAD. Also make sure once this process is complete , you have proper role assigned in LCS to deploy the machines.
Mark,
Are you logged in with a Global admin account (in your AAD)? We have faced issues with accounts, that were not Global admins, previously.
Hi Mark,
Do you have a license for Dynamics? If not, you'll have to sign up for a trial license. https://trials.dynamics.com/
These are pretty limited with what you can do though. You certainly cannot develop. For your connectivity with LCS to work, I am fairly certain you have to be a partner, ISV or a customer and then you can spin up dev VMs in Azure and develop for Dynamics.
Sukrut,
Thank you for the reply.I set-up an Azure VM for the preview as you suggested.
However I do not appear to have environmental settings on my LCS & inside the project settings when I try to click on Azure connectors I just get the attached error popping up. So I cannot see a way of pointing to Azure. Some posts have suggested expired Office 365 subscriptions can cause this - I have checked this and all our office subscriptions appear to be current & paid up to date.
.
Very frustrating! - Not sure where to go from here.

Do you have want to deploy dev VM's on your own subscription to get started with development ? In that scenario, do you have azure subscription? If you have azure subscription you can do ARM-based typology through LCS ARM on boarding process as guided on the link below and start deploying VM's
docs.microsoft.com/.../arm-onboarding
Will,
Thanks for the reply docs are essential but so also is a test platform - we can't proceed unless we have access to a sandbox environment.

Andre,
Thanks for the reply.
I set-up LCS and created a project connected to sharepoint & Visual studio but cannot see how to get a preview test platform for Dynamics F&O.
The link you sent states "Finance and Operations applications and Retail are available only to existing Microsoft Dynamics 365 channel partners and customers who are currently enrolled in the Business Ready Enhancement Plan (BREP) service plan. Existing customers can find details about how to access trials on CustomerSource. Partners can find the details on PartnerSource."
The PartnerSource link is not working. We are software development company - not channel partners - not sure if there are any options from here but we can't begin the project unless we have a platform to test against.
Hi markmcb,
You can also stat reading on this page:docs.microsoft.com/.../integration-overview
Then you have an overview about data integration provided by Microsoft.
About consuming external web services in D365FO:
docs.microsoft.com/.../consume-external-web-service
Hope this helps.
Hi Markmcb,
As an ISV, it would be possible to sign up for trial and development environments. docs.microsoft.com/.../sign-up-preview-subscription
Once you are recognized as an ISV partner, you can deploy development machines. You can then develop and test your solutions. Be aware that the DEV environment is using a local SQL server where a customer UAT and production environment is running on Azure SQL. So, there are differences between a development and customer environments. If you do the development in the correct way, it will be running smoothly in both an own DEV but also the customer environments.
I'm working at an ISV where we also have developed some integrations with third-party software.
You can read more about the differences on this page: docs.microsoft.com/.../environment-planning
