Restrict user to access and view only own BU data

Hi,

I have created different business units, add user in business unit and assigned role like salesperson, sale manager, VP sales.

I want to restric visibility of all record at business unit level. for example BU-A user can only see leads and opportunity to their own BU and now allow them to see other business unit like BU-B details.

pls guide how to implement these restrictions.

Hi Irfan,

You can update the permission on your security to Business Unit. (half yellow sign)

Hi Irfan,

Check the below links for detailed steps. Basically it is Settings >> Security >> Security Roles >> {Open your security role and do the required changes}

thx, is it possible to apply on only ONE business unit. my requirement is One Business Unit want to restric BU record to be viewed by other BU. Only user in this BU can view record. pls guide how to setup this sort of permissions.

If you set the the priviledge as Business Unit than the users will have access to those records which are belongs to their BU. Try changing it to BU level and see if it works.

in saleperson role set account at BU level that i will apply to organization wide. is it possible to set it only for ONE Business Unit. only one business unit want to restric access and view of his BU data from other business unit. pls guide how to allow at only one business unit level. thx

You cannot set restriction for specific BU. However you can set privileges as Parent-Child business unit this means that the user can see record for his BU and records from its child BU.

You might need to create separate security role and set up your BU in some kind of Parent Child BU. Something like this-

- Restricted BU

- Main BU

- Sub BU1

- Sub BU2

and so on..

Then you can create separate Security role for Main BU [keeping Parent-Child privilege] user and Restricted BU users [Keeping BU level privilege]

Whats you current structure look like? Can you share some more details?

Hi,

i have two level hierarcy. One top/parent BU and have Child BU.

- Main BU

- Sub BU1 [Salespersons/Salemanager in this BU see all record of this BU]

- Sub BU2 [Salespersons/Salemanager in this BU see all record of this BU]

for user i have given BU and salesperson role, but right now salesperson in BU1 can see records in BU2.

I want to restrict that access, only user in BU1 can only access data at their BU level.

pls guide how i setup this sort of permission.

with this set up, if you set the priviledge to just Bu level then it should restrict cross bu accesss.

Assuming that you have assigned the correct security role to the user.

Note that securoty roles works in cumulative manner I.e. if you have more than 2 security role than the final security priviledges woyld be the addtion of the 2 security role.

can you check if your security role has bu level access and your user has just this security role
