Hello,
We are D365 CRM ISV and have IUR for D365 Enterprise plan (10 licenses), 1 portal license (through ISV Action Pack). Marketing also shows up in "Application" section.
When I try installing Marketing from "Application Section"... I get error saying that no portal available...(We are already using portal license for Self Service Support)...
My question is: Is portal a mandatory requirement for using the new marketing app? I read that portal is needed for Event Management and landing pages... Now suppose we don't need those at the moment and are more interested in just using marketing app for Email Marketing... Is that possible? If yes then how do I install the marketing app?
Please advise.
But can i configure anything on the MDM portal after it has been configured, or is it locked to the MDM? Makes no sense that I can't use one portal for Customer Self Service and MDM..
I've found that the portal is used for the landing pages as well, so that makes it a big dependency even for just 'general' marketing.
Thanks Megan for the information. We had raised a support ticket with MSFT and were told the samething recently.
It is unfortunate that MSFT Partners don't get IUR for Dynamics Marketing! Only when we get a chance to try out these newer solutions...can we suggest and train our Customers for the same...
Hi Zap Objects,
You mentioned you had an IUR license, but unless you have 10 or more paid C+E licenses, you aren't eligible for the Marketing attach plan so your install will always fail.
Sorry about that.
Megan
Thanks Johnny and Adam for clarification. I wish that Marketing solution did not have a dependency for seperate portal. (I can understand the need for portal for events management... but requiring portal even for running marketing app is ridiculous!)
Hi Partner,
Agree with the above suggestion. Dynamics 365 for Marketing requires a dedicated Dynamics 365 portals solution for running marketing pages and event portals.
Depending on the Dynamics 365 for Marketing licensing plan you have chosen, your license may include a free portal (provided no other free portals are already in use on your tenant), or you may need to purchase a new portal license before you can install the Marketing app.
You could recycle an existing portal or purchase an additional portal.
From your description , you have already had 1 portal license.
If this portal hasn't been used, you can reset it and then run the Marketing setup wizard to set it up for use with Marketing. Please note that you will lose all of the data and content of your existing portal when you reset it. After the reset, the portal will still be shown as "configured" in the Dynamics 365 admin center, but you will now be able to select it when you run Marketing setup wizard.
Hope the above would help.
Regards
Johnny
Yes, an unconfigured portal app must be available on your tenant to install Dynamics 365 for Marketing. More details can be found at docs.microsoft.com/.../purchase-setup
