IMAP with OAuth2.0 in Business Central (mailrobot)

Hello everybody,

I am trying to set up a mailrobot in Business Central using a shared mailbox and Azure (Entra ID) App registration.

I am not a Business Central expert so I have a few questions to ask (please check the screenshot).

If I use OAuth2.0 Authentication for IMAP in Business Central do I still need to have these values: IMAP Hostname, IMAP User, IMAP Passwort? Can I use only IMAP user (E-Mail) and how?

What represents the field OAuth2 Folder field (OAuth2 Ordner) and how to find it?

Kindest regards

Leon

    Hi,

If you use OAuth2.0 for IMAP in Business Central, you still need to provide the IMAP Hostname and IMAP User. The hostname tells Business Central which mail server to connect to, and the user is the email address of the mailbox (shared or individual). The IMAP password is not required because OAuth replaces it.

The OAuth2 Folder field represents the IMAP folder name from which Business Central will read emails. Commonly, this is “Inbox,” but you can specify any folder name if you want to process emails from a different folder. To find it, check the folder name in the mailbox via Outlook or OWA and use the exact name (case-sensitive). For shared mailboxes, ensure the folder exists under the shared mailbox hierarchy.

    Thanks

    Hi Rishabh,

This query is raised in June 2024, may be it's already resolved by user as good amount of time already passed. Once someone responded on these old queries, other experts also follow and it came into latest feed which should be avoided as per my humble opinion.
