SQL based SSRS Report

Hello,

I am struggling to improve the performance of my ssrs reports. They are sql based and I used filtered views.

It takes close to minute and sometimes more than a min for the report to render. Our sql team looked for any missing indexes and couldn't find anything on the report server either. What do you guys suggest we do in order to improve the performance.

Thanks for any help!

    Hi Roxanna,

Generally for SQL based reports, best practice is to use less filter views. 3 or 4 filter views are recommended, if there are more joins then definitely issue with SQL query performance.

In case you have to use more than 3-4 filter views, i will suggest to use temp. tables in your SQL query. Copy your filter views data into temp table by adding filters and use those temp tables in main sql query.

e.g. if you are pulling data from account, contact, Quote, order etc based on contact record, then first create temp. table for account, contact data which will store required account and contact data. then create temp. table for quote, order of contacts, and then use joins on temp. tables only.
