Leasing in standard BC

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any tips on how to handle leasing in standard Business Central?
Example; a business who leases vending machines with a rate per week.

At the moment we are not looking into any ISV apps unless we necessarily have to.

Any tips on how to approach such setup, please?

Thanks in advance!
I have the same question (0)

Hi, as far as I know, there is no standard module that supports the leasing function in Business Central.
If this is just an accounting transaction, you can try Recurring General Journals.

There is also the Recurring Item Journal available if this relates to items in and out.

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

I am implementing something similar currently.   We chose Dynaway EAM as a ISV.  One key process question ;  Will the leased object be a Item (probably serialized!?) or a Fixed Asset?.    In my clients needs, the item value is very high.  Fixed Assets are used when leasing because depreciation is required , as they own it.    When the Item is sold, it becomes the Fixed Asset for leasing.   They also offer sale of the item, so in the case of sales, no fixed asset is used.
Dynaway EAM helps them manage the Item for service calls, maintenance checks etc.   It is pretty slick.

You can use Recurring Sales Lines.
As the lines You can set up as G/L accounts just for the Revenue from Leasing, or You can create a Non-Stock or service type item card for each Vending machine, but then You would need to create the same amount of recurring sales codes and each would consist of specific item No.  (or create them individually for each customer - if they are leasing several machines and other services)
If you choose the GL account option, then You would need to create separate Recurring sales codes only for different pricing/package options
For the customer You can define the period from which, to which the recurring sales code is active.
One customer can have several recurring sales codes active at the same time.

If someone is leasing several vending machines, the You could create

Then each month run the process "Create Recurring Sales Invoices" to generate all the invoices.
