Can anyone explain the 'Rank' field in the RFQ process. It appears to allow you to rank the bids on the 'Compare replies' page, but is arbitrary or does it relate to something specific? Thanks.

You can find documentation written for AX2012, but also valid for Dynamics 365 SCM. docs.microsoft.com/.../compare-bids-and-award-a-contract
It is a ranking to indicate preferences for certain bids.
