Multiple inventory units

Hello,

We use AX 2012 R3 CU8.

I would like to know if it's possible to have different inventory units for a single product.

For example :  I always purchase product "A" by the dozen.

In warehouse W1, it usually moves by the unit so I would like the inventory unit to be "Unit" (12 to a dozen).

But in warehouse W2, it usually moves by the dozen.  So to simplify stock movements, I would like the inventory unit to be "Dozen".

Our warehouses don't use Advanced warehouse management available since R3.  We have found no reason to use it so far, seeing that it's more complex.

Thanks.

    Hi Denis,

There is no option to specify an inventory unit per site/warehouse. This is a product specific setting. However you can view the inventory in multiple units. You can have a look at catch weight functionality, but this might also be cumbersome for your scenario as it is designed for products where the units do not have the same conversion. E.g. sometimes you have 12 apples in a kilo; another time it is 11 apples.

I haven't fully looked in to this, but there are some barcodes you can set up for an item. You can there set the unit of measure as well. Maybe try this to scan your items and that might give you the right unit you want.

This way you can use different barcodes on each warehouses.
