Ribbon Customization for 2016

Has ribbon customization process changed for 2016? I am on 2016 online and when I export my solution with case entity and application ribbon. I do not see most of ribbondiff there. No button definition and command core.

When checked on msdn, it says I need to decompress the data.

Any suggestions?

    Hello;

    Are you trying to manually edit the ribbon or are you using a tool like the Ribbon Workbench? http://www.develop1.net/public/page/Ribbon-Workbench-for-Dynamics-CRM-2011.aspx  . If not I'd recommend it as it'll make your development process much smoother.

    Hi Jason,

    Thanks for your response.

    I am using Ribbon workbench. However, have a question that cant we override the ooB button functionality.

    E.g. Can I put my script on Resolve button of case form? And have OOB and my script function together?

    Hello Meet; I believe you can't add to the out of the box buttons. In this case that button is locked down. You'd have to hide it and then recreate it essentially.

    Hi Jason,

    So even if I we so not want the OOB message like "Do you want to save & route using routing rule" on click of Save & Route button. I will have to hide this button and create new which does same routing?

    Hi,

    Jason is right in that the OOTB functionality is not customisable. You can't change the functionality of OOB functions without changing the command to point at different Javascript.

    If you right-click on a button you can choose - 'Customise Command' which gives you a copy of the command that you can change. You can add steps or enable/display rules but you can't change code so it is essentially a black box.

    Hope this helps
