Is there a smartlist i can run that combines purchasing and financial?

I made a video based on your question that reviews 3 areas to get check registers, and which one shows the GL accounts used by the invoices being paid.

The GL Tansacions smartlist should be able to help you. If the source begins with PM it is a Purchasing Payment if it starts with CM it is a financial payment.
You also have the chequebook smartlist that shows all checks issued.
