Service upgrade on D365FO VM

Hi All,

We're planning to do a service upgrade for a D365FO instance from update 32 to update 41. At present the instance has custom configurations in it.

Could anyone please suggest the pre requisites that needs to be considered before proceeding with the upgrade process. 

And apart from service upgrade, should we also consider the data upgrade deployable package as well.

Please let me know your suggestions.

    HI Suren G,

    data upgrade is no longer needed since D365 8.1 version. Updating to new version requires only applying the update package to your environment, nothing else.

    However it's not supported to skip as many updates as you have done. You can skip only 3 updates in a row. So you might have issues.

    It also depends on the type of environment. If it's a dev system (or any Onebox VM), you must actually deploy a new VM anyway : community.dynamics.com/.../action-required---net-version-and-visual-studio-2017 .

    Please try to keep up with the versions in the future in order to have your business critical system in a supported state.

    Thanks for your response. Will it be fine if we upgrade from update 32 to update 35 and then to update 38 and further to update 41.

    Hi,

    just try it.

    But for oneboxes it's not going to work as I already wrote: you have to deploy a new VM.
