How do you revalue all your assets in Dynamics GP?

    Hi Mystique,

If you are referring to Multi-currency revaluation there is not an option in Dynamics GP to revalue assets in the FA module, this option is only available for the GL, Sales and Purchasing modules in the software.

However if you want to change the cost basis, shorten life, etc. for an asset that will change the overall value you can do so manually on the associated FA Book Record (Cards | FA | Books).

Note that when you do so you will be prompted to recalculate depreciation amounts, either for the life of the asset or just the current year accordingly.  More information on this process can be found in the following KB article: support.microsoft.com/.../855314

Hi Jeff, I am trying to do this for multiple assets can i do this in mass?

Not multicurrency but the company revalues assets every 3 years. I want to keep track of the original asset value.

    Hi Mystique,

If you are changing the Cost Basis this would need to be done on a per asset basis in Dynamics GP and there isn't a mass functionality to allow such a change.

However, if you are changing Averaging Conventions and/or Depreciation Method for a group of assets (which also triggers a recalculation of depreciation amounts, but no 'value' change) you can use the Transactions | Fixed Assets | Mass Change window to do so.

This requires creating an Asset Group ID (Transactions | Fixed Assets | Select Assets) to assign the mass change to accordingly.

    Best Regards,

    Jeff
