For one of my users, the Dynamics SL icon randomly disappears. What is causing it?

is the Dynamics SL or Parent.exe is used from network drive ?

Follow the below steps in her workstation.
1) Take a backup of that "Microsoft Dynamics SL" under C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\ folder for precautionary purpose
2) Delete that "Microsoft Dynamics SL" under C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\ folder
3) Ask that user to open the Sl application in that same workstation
4) This time you need to specify the SL DB server and select the appropriate SL System Database and login with appropriate company.
5) By this way system will automatically create all the necessary files again under same path and this will resolve your problem

What do I need to check for there? Do I need to delete the contents of it? She is using Dynamics on her workstation pointed to the server.
Check the Mapped network drive settings else check the MenuCache file as mentioned above by David

Check the user's menu cache folder.
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Dynamics SL\MenuCache
