Workflow which send email from CRM to Gmail account

I tried to create a workflow whereby the user runs it on a Project entity (custom) and upon running it, sends an email to the primary contact of the customer account linked with the project. Indeed, I set up an Email Server Profile which will cater for sending emails directly to Gmail and also tested it with a number of CRM accounts. This works fine.

Now the primary contact account contains a simple gmail address that is not related with CRM. The problem is that when I run the Workflow and check the process' session log, it shows that the process ran successfully but no email is received by the primary contact.

    Hi,

    did you activate sending of emails to unresolved email addresses in settings / email?

    I hadn't activated this setting and now I did, but it still will not work. It won't even work for users within CRM itself (for which email settings have been configured), yet the mailbox work just fine and Gmail sent and received the test messages no problem. The problem arises when the workflow is used.

    Is the user who is sending out the mails set to allow sending emails on my behalf in his personal options / email?

    I am trying to send out the emails myself as administrator. Yes the option is enabled.

    Also, I have noticed that while the workflow successfully completes, the emails remain in "Pending Send" state, but so far I could not find any solution to resume the sending.

    Restarting the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Asynchronous Processing Service and re-logging onto CRM fixed this issue. Now emails can be sent normally or from workflows without any problems.
