CRM 2016 On Premise - Outlook Issue

Posted on by 255

The issue is affecting one user in a large organization so definately the exception.

He has uninstalled the Outlook Connector for the moment however if he tries to install it again, it does not ask for the Organization.  Outlook tends to crash thereafter as well.

Is there a nuclear option for sending the Connector back to a proper uninstalled state so that we can try the install as it shoud be?

Presumably there will be information in Outlook, the Registry, perhaps the User Profile that we can target.

In the past Office was also reinstalled (I wasn't involved in that), seems that this did not help.

    What other Add-ins are installed.  Can you try to disable all add-ins but CRM and see if you still have the issue?   Sounds like it might be a conflict with add-ins.

    Lastly, are do you have the correct CRM Add-in to version of outlook and CRM

    I will give that a try.

    I did try the following a couple of hours ago:

    1. Log in to PC as ME (rather than the user experiencing the problem);
    2. Installed the Outlook Client;
    3. Installed SP1 for the Outlook Client;
    4. Start Outlook and browse CRM (caused a freeze), restarted Outlook;
    5. Track an Email (first attempt gave error, second attempt was fine);
    6. Got user to test under own profile.

    I have a message from the user saying that the issue is still there although don't have exact sequence of issues right now.

    Disable all the add-ins in outlook temporarily.  Uninstall the client

    You can try to delete the registry key located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient.

    Should have said that we got to this state due to a number of issues including instability and also there was a point where the same 4 emails kept being sent out every few minutes or so.
