You can set the Status of the Range field to Locked, then it can't be changed by the user.

Do you want to restrict users from seeing data for specific customers?
If that is the case then XDS is the right tool for that.

Why would you want to give the user access to all records but stop him filtering to get only the record he needs?
If there is a specific filter criteria you want to keep, then go to Modify button, name the filer, and save it and it will then add to the right mouse menu, when you next go to that filter screen..
