Changing the Lot/Serial Number Associated with Work Order?

We are using SL 2011 FP1.

A user has reported that she assigned the incorrect lot/serial number to a part during a save in Production Completion within Work Orders.   When asked "Do you wish to change the processing stage to "Ops-Closed"? she pressed "No".  The processing stage of the both the WO and the Production Completion is set to "released" .

I read in the Help, that you can re-assign lot numbers using the 2-step Transfer and Receipt process.  When I tested in this in a test database, the result did not seem to have an effect on the Work Order in the "released" stage.

I'm not sure of what step to take next in order to get the correct lot/serial number associated with the Work Order.

Any help is appreciated.

  • RE: Changing the Lot/Serial Number Associated with Work Order?

    HiJane R.,

The work order is already completed so it cannot be changed.  The transfer changed the serial number in inventory which achieved the same result as if you would have had the correct lot/serial number on the WO.  Getting the lot/serial number changed on the WO would be more for your records as the WO has no useful purpose now that the item is in inventory and the WO is completed.  If you really want the lot/serial number changed on the WO, you would need to update the tables using SQL statements.
