How can I clean up/delete duplicate Autoposts? Dynamics 365 doesn't have a delete option in the Advanced Find for Posts.

Greetings!

We are using Dynamics 365 online with the December 2016 upgrades.

I noticed several autoposts were duplicating, and have resolved that creation of duplicates by deleting duplicate SDK entries.

Now I'd like to go back and delete the duplicates.

I can see the duplicates in my Advanced Find, but there is no option to delete anything from the advanced find for Posts.  I can open each duplicate record from the Advanced Find and delete the duplicates in the forms, but that is time consuming and terribly inefficient.  (I have

When I looked at setting up a Duplicate Detection Rule, I think I correctly selected the Base Record of Social Activity to get to Posts. But I don't understand how to create the Duplicate Detection Job to focus on the right set of data.

Can anyone suggest a way to identify and delete these duplicates? They are true duplicates created by identical processes: same DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM (not always same SS) with exact same content, creator, etc..

Thank in advance,

Tricia

You can delete posts - but only using the Bulk-Delete feature. When you find the records using Advanced find, if you have permissions to delete posts you will see an option on the toolbar for 'bulk-delete.'

Open Advanced Find and Select Posts from the Look for drop down. From the Use Saved View select [new]

Add the Regarding and Text fields to your columns

Modify the query so that it gives you the results that you need.

This will give you the subset of data from which you can select the records that you want to Delete.

You will not be able to delete the records from here, so what you will need to do is create a Workflow  on the Posts entity to Delete a Post.

Then in advanced find results, select the records that you want to delete, and click on Run Workflow.

    This should hopefully do it.

    Hi Tricia,

I dont think it is straight forward to delete because you dont want to delete all entries - you want one entry to exist while deleting other duplicates.

You need to export these record into excel, select the GUID of the record you want to delete and then through SDK or any tool you need to delete the record with those GUID.

The other way will be to use SQL if the record count is very high - extract the post into one table, find dups and then delete using SDK.

    Thanks,

    Prateek

I have my subset of data, but I can't figure out how to delete a record via workflow.  The options to Update the Record only allow for updates of certain user fields.  Do I need to write something fancier?  Thanks!

I'm not certain how I can export to Excel.  The Advanced Find for Posts doesn't include an Export to Excel, and there is no Entity for Posts in the Config to flag to make visible in my UI.  Suggestions?   I could copy nd paste but won't get the GUIDs.  Thanks!

Tricia - Did you find a resolution to this.  I am having the same issue.  For every Lead or Contact created, 4 posts are created.  I too would like to clean this up.  I still have no idea how all the auto-posts are being created.
