Hello, when it comes to upgrade Microsoft dynamics ax 2012 to D365. Can we used the existing ax2012 and it would not affect our database?

Your advice is very much appreciated. Thanks later

Hi Gates, Before all I would like to ask point of you. How long you are using AX2012?

Maybe the best you gots is to talk your company business partner that still connected to Microsoft. if it is not possible, My own opinion is Yes, no more data will lose. you will still use it. only application will changed and upgraded. My AX licensing knowledge is very limited and still reading at it. Well, hope this will guide you.

    Have a great day! Weekend!

Your question is unclear. Do you want to buy d365 licenses and keep using ax 2012?

Or do you want a copy of ax 2012 working after the upgrade?

AX 2012 and d365 cannot share the same database if that is what you're asking.

Please review the upgrade procedure here:

    Hi New Gates,

You will create a backup of your 2012 Data base and upgrade it. So no changes to existing environment and it can be used while you doing upgrade. Please refer documentation for details  docs.microsoft.com/.../data-upgrade-2012

    Hi New Gates

I would suggest that you call your Microsoft Partner for the most update to date answer + you will be in a better position when you move forward because it comes from a direct source.

Let me know if you need some names of qualified partners with knowledge about AX2012, R3, D365, the new license plans, because there is many things to consider.
