Can Supply Chain be used for Services

We are using Dynamics for a field they are not yet fitted to, and I need a way of getting control of projects and tasks.

We are today using Cases both handling customer service matters but also for internal work and development.

I'm desperatly trying to find a way of getting my information (cases, work orders and task) in dynamics to be connected or translated to a Gantt chart, and hopefully an activety chart, but Power Bi have a limitation on data that is not that high for someone that uses Dynamics from my understanding.

So that is why I'm kind of wondering if the module  Supply Chain can be used with services instead of physical products.

We deliver both a service, some product but we also deliver the service that is Dynamics as a softwaere or an information platform if you can say.

I have the same question (0)

I'm not sure if this is the case.

If you setup a product as non-stockable, you are managing a service not a product.  You must define if products are managed inventory or services.

For BI analysis, we are suggesting Data Lake. You can easily export raw data from D365 to an external database and query / explore data using Power Bi.

You can use Item & Service as Product types in the Product creation, and then can add into a BOM as a package to your customers. These can be sold out individually too.

You can use Revenue recognition feature which would help to recognize the revenue over the period of time instead at time of billing.

You should consider using Project management and accounting module of D365 SCM. Create a project with either internal or external funding source/contract. From it, you can then define WBS activities and update them via MS Project or Project Operations. Hour/item/expense transactions can be generated which can be either billable or non-billable. Service orders can be created from a project. EAM module is a good option for shorter projects where WBS activities planning is not needed.
