Buy Domain Name from Office 365

Hi, 

It appears you can only purchase a domain name from Office 365 if you have an Office 365 subscription. We plan on purchasing Office 365 at a later date, but wish to have our own domain name beforehand for use with CRM. 

Is there no way to purchase a domain name without first purchasing the Office 365 licenses? And if not, where is the best place to buy a domain from for compatibility with Office 365 / online services? (UK)

    Hi Guido, thanks for the response.

    When you configure your own domain you have two options to allow Office 365 to set-up services for you or to do a manual set-up. Apparently Office 365 hosts the domain when you select the Office 365 option.

    Is this part of the setup still possible without an Office 365 license? It seems odd as essentially if we went with Go Daddy there would be no difference between setting it up this way and buying it directly from within Online Services.

    Or without an Office 365 license are you restricted hosting within Go Daddy and have to add a number of Records (such as MX and TXT) manually?
