For retailers that restrict salesclerks from multiple logons and do not support shared shifts, if the store is operating in offline mode, the shift cannot be closed. In the event the store remains in an offline state from the close of business to the reopening of business the next day, there can be issues with the ability to use the POS application.
The salesclerk that has the open shift that could not be closed may not be working the next business day which can cause the register to be unintentionally locked to other users. In the event a retailer wants to allow a manager group to have access to multiple shift logons, there is still the risk the manager is not in the store at the start of the next business day.
Are there configurable workarounds to this issue that others have used with success in the past?
Does anyone know if the ability to close a shift in offline mode is on the product roadmap? The offline improvements now include the ability to open a shift in offline mode, however the above-mentioned use case still poses a risk if we cannot close the shift while in offline mode.
