Import Files into BC APP on MAC OS

Hello All,

We have a customer who reached out that we support, and they brought up a bug that they are running into. One of their users uses the BC app on their MAC OS, when they attempt to import documents via file drop, the document never makes it in. Even if we use the upload feature, it never make it. I tested this on my and am running into the same issue. I'm guessing this is a current bug with the app on MAC OS. Is it possible to have it be patched for next release?

Thank you!

Moses

    Hi Moses,

It could very well be a bug. I would check the client's current environment version. The current release of BC is 28.3 with 28.4 being released this month.

You can see a list of release versions here: Released Updates for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2026 Release Wave 1 | Microsoft Support

28.4 patch notes are here: Update 28.4 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2026 Release Wave 1 | Microsoft Support

And to report a bug you can submit a ticket to Microsoft or have the partner submit a ticket on your behalf. Microsoft support will then log the issue and hopefully address it in a future release. There is information on support submissions here: Technical support overview - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

    Best,

    Hello Moses,
macOS itself should not prevent file uploads in Business Central—Microsoft officially supports the latest Safari on macOS, and the standard file-upload/drag-and-drop functionality is supported in the web client; the documented UploadIntoStream limitation applies to iOS devices such as iPads, not macOS. Since you can reproduce the issue on multiple Macs, I would first test the same action directly in the latest Safari web client rather than the installed BC app/PWA; if it works in Safari, the issue is likely client-specific, but if it fails there as well, capture the exact BC version, macOS/Safari versions and reproduction steps and open a Microsoft support request through Business Central Admin Center → Support → New Support Request. A forum post itself will not normally result in a patch being scheduled, whereas a reproducible support case can be investigated by Microsoft and, if confirmed as a product defect, included in a service update.

    Regards,

Hi, You can submit this to Microsoft—for example, via a Service Request or BC Viva Engage.
