Changing Email Tracking Token Prefix

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 162

We're on CRM 2016 on-prem using email router and Outlook tracking.

There's a request to change our current email tracking token prefix to something else. So currently we are using ABC:01234 now we want to change to XYZ:01234

Is there anything to worry about when changing the tracking token prefix? Will it break any previously tracked emails, the current tracking process, etc.?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply Arun.

So as quoted by this user below it is not recommended to change the prefix... that is just too bad then but we should follow.

But do not change the prefix, as too many changes to this prefix could result in data loss, as the system many not see the previously used tokens as tracked in CRM

    Thanks,

I don’t find any official documentation about what will be the impact on doing so. So far only that experience shared by community user thread is available.

You can try in lower environments if you want to research before trying in Prod System & also can have a premier advisory ticket opened with MS support if you want.
