Hi Experts,

I would like to ask whether some of you ever encountered this issue.

Something went strange when I run master scheduling. The planned order for certain items were generated although I did not set the item coverage. Anyone ever faced this issue before?

Please help. Thank you.

Regards,

Silvia

    Hi Silvia,

    I experienced this issue when my inventory was below zero, can this be the issue for your environment, too?

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Your net requirements should be showing a projected inventory below 0, and your general coverage group on the master planning parms is causing master planning to cover that deficit.    If you don't want planning to run unless you have assigned a coverage group to an item / set up Item Coverage, set your general coverage group to something that is Manual.

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Hi Faith,

    I thought so. Do you know how to setup master planning for it to ignore unsetup item?

    What i have setup master planning so far:

    - Calendar & working time template (set Monday-Friday)

    - Master plans (use default setup, I clicked New and save it)

    - Coverage group (use default setup and I choose Min/Max)

    - Master planning parameters

      --> Current static and dynamic plan: using same master plan created earlier

      --> Automatic copy: checked

      --> General coverage group: MinMax

      --> Working days: checked

      --> Calendar: standard

      --> another parameters were left as it is.

    - In item, FastTab Plan, Coverage: MinMax

    - In item, Plan tab, Item coverage, set site, warehouse, min qty, max qty, group: MinMax

    Using current setup, the item that the item coverage has been set, doesn't generate Planned order although the qty below Min qty. And the item that didn't have item coverage generated Planned order.

    Quite strange, right?

    Is there anything that I missed?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Silvia

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Hello Colby,

    If i set general coverage group to Manual, when i run master scheduling, it doesn't generate planned order.

    Can you explain in more detail about how you do this?

    What I want is:

    - the item that has item coverage, when the qty < minimum qty, then the Planned order is generated

    - the item that doesn't have item coverage, will be ignored.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Silvia

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Hi Silvia,

    The configuration Colby recommended is correct.

    If all you need is Min/Max then you should have 2 coverage groups: 1 for Min/Max and 1 for manual, that is to prevent requirement calculation for items that will not be covered by master planning.

    If you set the manual one as your default item coverage group then all your items will be excluded from master planning. That means you should assign the Min/Max coverage group for each item that should  be covered by master planning.

    You can also do vice versa, it depends on the amounts of your items that should and should not be covered.

    If you have more items to cover in master planning, then you can set your manual coverage group to Min/Max and manually assign the "Manual coverage group" to the ones that you do not want to cover.

    But still, the application might calculate more than you think you need.  And at this point, the reason might be as following:

    Let's say you have a product A

    With an amount of 7 pieces in Warehouse 1,

    And -1 pieces in Warehouse 2.

    Your Min/Max setup is to fulfill to 10 when your stock amount is 5 in Warehouse 1.

    In this situation the application will calculate a requirement for 1 piece in Warehouse 2.

    Because your inventory is below zero there.

    If you do not want to have a result like that, then you should also set your Warehouse 2 to Manual refilling in Master Planning tab in Warehouses form.

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Hi Faith,

    It works using general coverage: MinMax and set the item coverage group to Manual.

    The one i wanted is using general coverage: Manual and set each item coverage with MinMax because the item used for master planning is not that many.

    When i set general coverage to Manual then run master scheduling, planned order is not generated although i have set item coverage for item A and item B using MinMax.

    Do you know why? Many thanks.

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Hi Silvia,

    Have you already configured your Min and Max amounts per warehouse by using Plan->Item coverage form for your released product? It is defined on products form for each product.

    RE: Master Planning Setup

    Hi Fatih,

    I already configured my Min and Max amounts per warehouse in Item coverage.

    I think there are some setup here that caused this. When I tried to setup with same item in another legal entity, it works.

    I will try to find out what is wrong with this legal entity..

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Silvia
