I have created a formula in R3 and defined By Product against the Same in the Co Products Form as shown in the below screen shot where I have defined Burden Type as "Percent" and percentage defined as 10.

When I am running the calculation on the Formula for the estimation of Prices. I am getting the error as below showing cost category has been not specified for byproduct. Please help me to resolve this issue.

Looks like you have enabled cost accounting and using it for your costing, Refer technet.microsoft.com/.../aa498346.aspx to create cost categories

    Hi Teja,

I am experiencing the same issue as you describe. I have had a quick look at the cost accounting module but am not familiar with it. I tried creating a test category in "Cost accounting" module but there doesnt seem to be a logical link with my formula or item and it did not have any affect on my calculation.  Have you resolved your issue? If so I would be grateful if you could describe the solution here please?

    Thanks

Does your 'Byproduct1' item have a Cost group in the Manage costs fast tab of its item master (Released products) form?

    Hi,

    Yes, cost group is specified.

this morning, in order to check all the typical setups were included for costing I have created a formula with the by-product item as a regular formula line and it costs without an issue. So the only time it does not cost is when it is on the by-product line of the formula.

    Data configuration requirment identified:

    1. Setup a default cost category for by-product burden (Production control > Setup > Production Control parameters > Standard Update [Tab] > Burden [Field group] > Burden cost category)

    2. The burden cost category assigned in step 1 must have a cost group assigned (Production control > Setup > Routes > Cost Categories > Production [Fast tab] > References [Field group]> Cost group)

    3. The burdon cost category asigned in step 1 must have an active price active ((Production control > Setup > Routes > Cost Categories > Price [Button]

    Dear,

i was also facing this issue. I create new operation again and complete setup. then update route approve and activate. then issue resolved.

Some time we amend rout but click on update button and we activate.

Always if route is approved and activated, first un approve route and then modify as per requirement. then first update and approved then Activate.
