Only viewing Parent accounts

Hi guys,

My company's got a lot of accounts on Dynamics CRM. Most of these accounts can be put under a parenting account. However, when you search by Account name, even the sub accounts are shown. This makes "looking something up quickly" pretty much impossible.

My question is: is it possible that Dynamics CRM only shows the parent accounts, in stead of ALL accounts?

Hi Sem,

Do you use the Outlook Client? If you are able to create a view with Advanced Find (or a System View) that just shows Parent Accounts, then you can search this view from the Outlook client and it will only search within the view. When you search within the web client, it searches all Active and you can't change this.

Views can even help you on web client too. Just create a new personal view on Account with filter criteria to select only the parent accounts (Parent Account Does not contain Data). This will populate only the parent accounts. Hope this helps.

@Mandar - That will bring up all the parent accounts AND accounts that are not children. How could we find just the parent accounts?

You basically need to create a relationship within the account and (account entity).

Possibly have two conditions:

1: Parent Account does not contain data

2: Child Accounts Relationship -> Account Name field contains data
