Opportunity Close as Lost option

Dear Forum,

When an opportunity is lost (Dynamics365 Sales), you have the option Close as Lost. I would expect that once you select that option, the opportunity will be closed, without any validation on the status of an Quote.

After all, the deal is lost so why should be bothered by the status of a Quote, I find this not logical. I assume the Opportunity Close as Lost checks are also done in the off the shelf Sales app.

I can imagine that, for instance an active quote to be kept in the closed opportunity and when you close the opportunity that quote should be set automatically to closed as well.

For Quotes that are in draft, well depending to its purpose would it be either deleted or also set to closed.

Does anyone have some advice how to handle the quotes, and how can we implemented that Opportunity Close as Lost overwrites or changes the quote status without doing any manual actions on the quote.

I thought maybe through the Sales Hub App settings you might be able to configure the settings for the Close as Lost Opportunity, but I don't see only a reference to this.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

I totally understand your situation. This is the standard behavior of the system. Indeed, it is necessary to extend the server so that it can close the quotes automatically before the closing of the opportunity.

This can be done with a plugin. Do you have the possibility to implement a plugin?

    Hi,

Considering the button has OOB command and expected behavior to validate Quote status, I would suggest to customize a button acting as Close Opportunity. Just update the Opportunity status and set it inactive.
