Fixed asset : Acquired field set to No despite having an Acquisition entry

(0) ShareShare

Among all the Fixed Assets in a company there is one for which the field Acquired is set to No.

However, there is an Acquisition Cost entry for this Fixed Asset.

I assumed that this field would be automatically set to Yes as soon as a Acquisition Cost would be recorded, but it is not the case.

It is the only Fixed Asset that is set to No.

All the other Fixed Asset that have an Acquisition Cost recorded in the FA Ledger Entries have their field Acquired set to Yes.

Is there a known case that could explain this situation?

Thank you for any answer

Thierry

    Hello Thierry,

This field on the FA Card/FA List page should be set to true if in the FA Depreciation Book (the "rule" for the depreciation) field "Acquisition Date" is filled.
And that field should get filled when you register the acquisition.

    Is the "Acquisition Date" filled?
If not, do you recall how this acquisition has been registered?

If the issue persists I suggest you log a "service request" at Microsoft (or ask your partner to log this request)

    Thanks
      Dirk

    Hi Dirk

I work at a partner, but I am just a functional consultant, with a very thin technical varnish.

Although I’ve been working on NAV/Dynamics/BC for a number of years, I never encountered such a case, hence my post.

From what I gathered, the Acquired field is a calculated field, so I wondered why it would be set to No since it had a ledger entry with an FA Posting Type = Acquisition Cost.

As I was looking for help on the web, I came across the Microsoft Dynamics Community site and asked my question just to see if anyone had encountered such a case.

To answer your question, yes, it has dates in the fields FA Posting Date and Posting Date, as you can see on the print screens in my second post (just above yours) or here below but the picture quality seems very poor

So I suppose I am left with your suggestion : log a "service request" at Microsoft

Thanks a lot for your kind answer.

    Hi Thierry,

Ok, then it is even easier to create a service request.

In any case: I agree that the FA LÖedger Entry looks good.

But what about the "FA Depreciation Book"? Is the "Acquisition Date" filled there as well ?  Field 30 of TAB 5612

If this is not filled then I think we need to do two things:

    -  Try to find the cause

    -  Correct / add the date

To correct/add the date you can use Rapid Start. Just export the record from TAB 5612, change the value of field 30 and re-import.

Then the remaining challenge is that we need to find the root cause.

For this a service request woudl be good.

    Thanks

    Kind Regards

      Dirk

    Hi Dirk

    You are correct.

The Field 30 of TAB 5612 ("Acquisition Date" Table 5612) is empty.

We are going to correct it with Rapid Start as you suggested.

We are going to investigate, and pending on what we find, log a Service Request at MS.

    Thanks a lot.

    Best regards

    Hi Thierry,

Did you get any response on this issue from Microsoft.

    Regards,

    Shikha

    Hi Shikha

As you can see, the post is almost 2 years old.

Dirk Reeps provided all the answers.

Basically, he asked me to check if the field Acquisition date was filled in the table 5612 ("Acquisition Date")

    The field was empty.

I have no recollection about what happened next.

I believe we didn’t find any reason why this field was empty.

To my knowledge, we didn’t open any Service Request at MS.

We probably corrected the data in the table 5612, probably by using Rapid start as proposed by Dirk Reeps.

I don’t work where the problem occurred anymore, so, sorry I cannot help you any further.

What I recall is that it was in the process of changing software. The customer worked on numerous softwares and migrated to BC, so the data we started with may not have been very clean, but I don’t remember precisely why this field for this particular fixed asset was empty.

Do you have the same problem?

If yes, is the field "Acquisition Date" of the table "FA Depreciation Book" empty ? (Field 30 of table 5612)

If yes again, do you know why this field is empty? Do you have any recollection of the way the line was recorded, etc…

I never tried to reproduce the problem, but we could make the two following tests :

    1. Leave this field empty (Field 30 of table 5612) and try to acquire a Fixed asset

    a. If that is possible, check how the field Acquired is set to Yes or No.

    2. Fill this field (Field 30 of table 5612) and acquire a Fixed asset. Then try to supress the date in the field (Field 30 of table 5612)

    a. If that is possible check how the field Acquired is set to Yes or No

    Hello,

Is there any new information regarding this issue?

I work at a partner too and the same issue was reported a few months ago.

The field "Acquisition Date" of the table "FA Depreciation Book" is empty. (Field 30 of table 5612).

I don't know why it is empty since both the Posting Date and FA posting date are filled so I can not reproduce this problem,

    Thank you,

    Ana
