Dynamics GP 2015 install issue

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All,

I'm upgrading to GP 2015 R2 in my DEV environment. The DEV environment is running SQL 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, and GP 2015 R2.

I copied the various GP databases from Production, which is running  SQL server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2, and GP 2010 SP 4.

In DEV, I changed the database compatibility levels to 110 to match the new SQL version. Now, i am trying to run GP Utilities 2015 to update the databases.

It process the product version without issue and prompts me with this:

'A previous upgrade of Microsoft Dynamics GP has failed. To Proceed you need to upgrade your Microsoft Dynamics GP system database.'

That is fine. I expect that message to come up. However when i hit Next it runs through some upgrade steps and then on the 'Load Stored Procedures' step it gives me this error message:

'The following SQL statement has produced an error: EXEC wfDeployClrAssemblies'

After I hit OK, another error pops up:

'ERROR [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server].NET Framework execution was aborted by escalation policy because of out of memory. '

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for your help.

    Guys,

    Thanks for your feedback.

As it turns out, the application was upgraded to SP4 but the database had not been upgraded to SP4. So, i upgraded the system database and company databases using the GP 2010 Utilities. Then after i rebooted the server, tried to run the GP 2015 Utilities and it seems to work. It hasn't completed, but it did get past the 'EXEC wfDeployClrAssemblies' error section.

    Thanks for your help,

    Joe

Since you are also getting this error "NET Framework execution was aborted by escalation policy because of out of memory" Installing the latest SP and hotfix for SQL 2012 might help

    Microsoft .NET version: v4.0.30319

It's also worth noting that when i try to log onto the GP 2015 (Not the utilities app), i get the following error:

'A get/change first operation on table 'SY_Users_MSTR' failed accessing SQL data'

I am not sure if this is a typical error to encounter when trying to log in before the utilities update has run, but wanted to make note. This is with logging in using the sa username. I can also log onto the SQL server directly using this sa userID.

I've run through all the troubleshooting tips on this site (support.microsoft.com/.../860468) but the same error persists.

No you can't, at least not in a way I'm aware off easily....

WF 2.0 is now part of GP since 2013... No matter if you want to use it or not.. leave it or take it.

    Thanks Beat,

We actually don't use any workflow out of GP. Is there a way to remove this entirely so as to bypass loading those procs during the Utilities update?

    Hi JR,

The error message you're getting comes from missing objects in the Worflow 2.0 setup... Did you upgraded straight from GP2010 to 2015 ? you should try to apply 2013R2 first... that will most likely solve your problem..

If you have also Excel & SSRS reports deployed from your GP2010, please lookup up that other thread about upgrading from GP 9.0 to 10.0 (community.dynamics.com/.../422431), otherwise you run into the risk of scraping your existing deployed reports from your production system (live)...

I would try installing the latest SP and hotfix for SQL 2012
