Production Orders being split in a work centre rather than completing in one go

Posted on by 129
I've come across an issue whereby a number of production orders are being split for one work centre.

I've gone through the full planning worksheet and accepted all action messages, and have also refreshed all production orders that are being split on the date range I'm investigating.  For some reason the orders are still being split rather than completing the routing operation in one go, which is what is required.

In the example below, production order PRO-R02901 starts on 22/9, continues on 25/9 until 9:28am, then a different order is set up and runs for a bit, before PRO-R02901 starts again at 10:06am and completes the operation.

Can anybody think of a reason this may be happening?  Is there a setting that I need to turn on to stop an operation being split?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

I am experiencing the same issue:  1 routing step split requires 3 hours of work, but it is scheduled to span 6 days.  Did you ever find a resolution to this issue?

I see a different Line No. per row in your updated screenshot.  Does your Production Order have multiple Prod. Order Lines?  This would be typical in a multi-level Make-to-Order environment where each line is for a sub-assembly and the top line is the parent Item.

Thanks for your response Ben.  Yes I can confirm they are the same operation and there are no scheduling extensions installed on the environment.

Highlighting PRO-R02901 again, you can see that all of these are Operation No. 30

Can you verify these are the same Operation?  The Operation No. isn't shown in the screenshot.  If they are separate Operations, it is possible for the system to put another Prod. Order in between the two operations.  This is especially true if there is an operation performed on a separate Work Center in between.

Also, do you have any scheduling Extensions in your environment.  Some tools have the ability to restrict over-utilization of a work center to allow more Prod. Orders through in a given time period.  It could be a source of the split of a single Operation.
