Dynamcis CRM Data Analysis - Advanced find use external field

Hi all,
In Dynamic CRM, advanced find will work only on the fields available in CRM, but lots of time CRM doesn't have all the data in it.  What I mean is there are times that some supply chain team or analytics team will take data from CRM and apply some external factors/formula's with external data and wants to upload some fields back in CRM based on that analysis. Again this analysis is usually in big volume of data. I know some time we can do Spreadsheet import-export with native template which is exactly what we can do as long as it has proper GUID assigned or we can create our own custom tools as long as the rules are specific. but the scenario, I am talking is highly dynamic and frequent...means there are no rules in place or source is not defined....lots of time business do ad-hoc analysis by their own.

Does any one know any tools/feature/software allow this?? from IT stand point, we can always do data update from behind the scene as long as its on-premise, but curious what if we needs to provide these capability to some Business Users??

    Hi Nick,

you can't use external fields in the Advanced Find.

There will be Virtual Entities in the next release.. that might bring in some other options.

Alex, thanks for quick update. Any external tools that allow this sort of analysis and update of data back to CRM??

You might use Power BI for data analysis:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../dn708055.aspx

But, unless I'm missing something, it's going to be one-way (all those tools can pull data from Dynamics, but they can't push it back)

Excel export/import is, probably, the closest you'll get.. Although, with the deprecation of Outlook clients, I'm not sure what's going to happen to excel export/import.

With the Advanced Find, you might try creating a retrieve multiple plugin which will add some extra filters and/or populate dummy fields from external data.. but it'll be a lot of work and, in the end, might be impossible to make the experience fully integrated (to make it work with Dynamics sorting, filters, etc)
