Hi everyone,
This week I'm trying to start understanding how to make reports in GP. When I go to create a new financial report, I get a greyed out new button. I'm the administrator, and a poweruser so I'm confused as to why this is happening. Any suggestions?

To generate reports using the Financial Statements report option you must first create/ define needed reports using the Advanced Financial Report Definition window also found under Reports-Financial and as seen above in your screenshot- Once created can then use with above option.
You could also try using the Quick Financial Setup window to generate financial statements. Create a report option and choose a type of report. This option will use pre-defined layouts based which are based off of the out of box GP FS categories as found under tools-setup-financial-category. After completing the quick setup you can then run the report using above reporting option. If you have created any custom FS categories those will need to be updated in the report layout
With this being said, you may want to investigate using MR- Management Reporter for designing/generating your financial statements as is a more robust, easier to use reporting tool for designing and generating financial statements.

Hi,
Try creating report options using another selection instead of "Financial Statements". Instead try Trial Balance for example.
"Financial Statements" is part of a very old functionality which no one really uses (instead they use FRx / Management Reporter).

Most folks use Management Reporter to create their financial statements, not the tool you are struggling with. I would tend to recommend you deploy or seek assistance in deploying Management Reporter, it will save you time and frustration.
