CRM 2013 Custom SiteMap SubArea does not show Icon

I have a SiteMap SubArea that points to a URL (instead of a custom entity). I assigned an Icon (18x18 Pixels, .png file as specified in the SDK for the new Navigation tiles) as a Web Resource.

When I navigate to this custom SubArea, the Icon I specified does not display.

I've seen this issue with other ISV's that assign a URL to their SubArea. The Icon doesn't display for them either, so I'm sure this is a bug. I have 7 custom SubAreas in my custom Area tile. Without the icons, it's 7 blank, gray tiles. Hardly appealing of the customer.

Has anyone discovered a work around for this issue?

    just add $webresource:<webresource logical name>

On CRM 2015 OnPremise, Update 0.1 and Update 0.2 the issue still exists.

On CRM 2016 OnPremise, Update 0.1 the bug is fixed.

I'm on CRM 2015 Update 0.1 - is this issue still not resolved?

I just edited a typo in my post. Instead of Icon="WebResource/... what I used was Icon="/WebResources/...    maybe you can try that?

Thanks for the tip. In my case, this didn't solve the problem. I still can't see the icon and the crm loads the image with the path "/_imgs/NavBar/Invisble.gif?ver=......"

    Any idea why?

In the text section of the Icon attribute, instead of using the $webresource directive, I put this instead:

Icon="/WebResources/[publisher prefix][name of file without any virtual folders]

    ex. Icon="/WebResources/new_customIcon.png"

For the image itself, I load it in the web resources of the solution with just the name "customIcon.png".

That worked for me. I hope that helps!

We are using CRM 2015 Update 0.1 on-premise and there the bug still exists.

Actually, for us this is fixed in CRM2015!

Same problem here. In CRM 2015 the problem still exists.

Why isn't Microsoft interested in solving these bug?
