Dynamics AX 2012 R3 cu11 window opening blank after replacing database

Our transactional database was giving page fault, allocation unit and disk I/O consistency errors. We created a new database generated all its objects including tables views and sps etc through scripts then moved all the data from old database to the new one using mssql studio. Some tables were not readable including inventtrans. We used sql mdf file data recovery tool and get most of the data from these tables of i/o errors and exported it too in the new database. We then detached the old database and attached the new database with same logical and physical names. We run ax but only blank screen without any menus and modules is appearing. Please help out. Thanks.

We don't have any working backup as we were attacked by ransom ware and all the backups were encrypted.

Not sure how you created the new database and how you generate all its objects. You might want to create an empty AX database by running the AX 2012 installation media, then attach the new database to AX2012 and go through the checklist. Then migrate data from old database to new one.

Last option would be to re-implement the ERP project.

Your situation is quite difficult. I also suggest installing a new AX database, running the initialization checklist and then migrating data manually.

Since you are already in big trouble and don't have much to lose, you could perhaps try Test Data Transfer Tool which you can download from Lifecycle Services. It's normally used for copying prod data to test. But in your emergency situation you might use it for copying data from your broken database to a new one. No guarantees of course.

    Hi,

Is this concerning a production database or a test environment? Were the page faults and disk I/O errors caused by the ramsonware or a disk failure? Like mentioned above, a new database will be an option, but you might have lost important data.

If this is your production environment, potentially, you have to start with an opening balance and catch up with the postings for the current fiscal year.

Please ensure you will keep your backups on a safe place. A copy on Azure Storage might be a good assurance.
