'Permissions Set' page missing from Navision 2017 web client

Hi All,

I've only got access to Navision 2017 through the web client at the moment.  I am logged on as a 'super' user.

I can find the 'users' page and the 'user groups' page no problem, but the 'permission sets' page just doesn't seem to exist.  By digging down, for example through 'Permission Sets by User Group' I can see the permission sets and permissions, but the stand-alone 'Permission Sets' page doesn't seem to be available.  This is going to make it hard if not impossible to copy permission sets to create new bespoke ones.

Is this as it should be?  Will the Permission Sets page appear when I get hold of the Windows Client or is something wrong?

Thanks for any pointers.

Malcolm

    Hi Malcolm,

    The page is available here:

    PermissionSet.jpg

Though, you can't copy/past using WebClient... But you can export/import using XMLports 9171 and 9172. The import via those XMLports is available in each respective page (i.e. Permissions and Permission Sets)

    Hi MalcolmS,

    8228.App.PNG

    I can see it.

Search for Application Area. Make sure you have the following UNTICKED.

Nabil, that is a useful tip about exporting / importing permission set files instead of copying and pasting them.

Hasitha, I can see 'Application Area' in my Web Client but if I search for 'Perm' in the search box (magnifying glass at top right of any screen) I do not get anything, especially not Permission Sets.  (Can't really see your screen-scrape above as it is small, I'm assuming you've searched on 'Perm')

I can see Application Areas.  At the moment all 8 areas in there are ticked as 'show in user interface'.  Which of these is it that you believe I should untick? None of them look obvious for making 'Permission Sets' appear in the magnifying glass search box.

    Thanks both.

    Malcolm,

Click on the screenshots in order to enlarge them. You'll see all details you need.

Besides, the screenshot I gave you shows the user card (you said that you can access the user card ;) ). From there you can display "Permission Sets" page. Give it a shot ;)

Thanks Nabil, as you say the screenshots open bigger if clicked.

Wow, I've just spent a couple of hours looking at that crazy bit of functionality. As you anticipated all the tick boxes on 'Application Areas' were ticked, unticking them revealed the 'Permission Sets' page (I guess that page does not have a #basic, #all or anything else in its application area property).

As far as I can work out this only responds to the basic/suite setting on the Company Information page, and to unticking of the boxes on Application Areas page manually.  Some blogs and posts are saying this can be set by user or by profile, but if that is possible I cannot see how to do it (noting I only have access to web client at the moment).  [I also work with D365F; in that version once basic or suite are selected all the boxes on the Application Area page become ticked and that is the end of it, they are not editable by users (so the Permission Sets page is invisible in D365F).]

Help and documentation seem a bit thin on this subject so the below links are for anyone else who is struggling and looking for clues.
