We are currently looking at new directions for our website and use Dynamics 365 as our CRM. Some here seem to think it is possible to host our WordPress website "on Dynamics 365". I don't think this is the case and what they mean is that we can host a website on Azure (which we also have). If someone can clarify that for me, it would be great.
My main question though, is this: If we host our WordPress website on Azure, what does that do for us in regards to our instance of Dynamics 365? Is there documentation or something that I'm just failing to find? Is there out of the box integration or will we still need to look at third party plugins like AlexaCRM?'
I appreciate any help or advice you all can give!
Thank you. I really appreciate your help.
This is what I expected, but I'm new to Dynamics (Not website building) and I am being told hosting our website on Dynamics will allow information on the website to be pushed to Dynamics. I couldn't find anything about "hosting on Dynamics" outside of the Power pages and the like, so I was assuming they meant hosting on Azure, but what they thought would happen didn't really make sense to me. I've already implemented the form capture and tracking for our website, so it didn't seem like there was anything more that hosting on Azure could do OOB.
Again, thank you for taking the time to clarify. I no longer feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
When you host a Wordpress site inside Azure you just use Azure as any other cloud provider (like AWS).
As I said before there isn't oob integration between Wordpress and Dynamics 365 (if you want to show Dynamics 365 data to a website for example there is Microsoft Portals/Power Pages that is provided by Microsoft with a different pricing than a Wordpress site).
What I am writing next apply to all scenarios and not to this specific inquiry.
You have been asked to research something, you did your due diligence (in this specific case you already knew AlexaCRM and you asked a question inside a specific community forum) and you gathered your responses.
After you present the results to the team/who asked in the first place.
Worst scenario: they don't trust you, it can happen. The only thing you can do is to show your due diligence, if they say something like "I heard that...", "someone told me..." then kindly ask to send you the details/source.
Nobody is omniscient, I can miss information, your due diligence can be incomplete, but this doesn't mean others get to think or act based on what they want instead of what is available.
So there really isn't any benefit to hosting on Azure as it relates to Dynamics? We will still have to use the same third party solutions regardless? Sorry if I seem like I'm being obtuse, but I have to bring this information to my team and I know they will question it.
no oob integration
So even if the website is hosted on Azure there is not integration between it and Dynamics 365?
there isn't an oob integration between Dynamics 365 and Wordpress, you need to look at third-party integrations like AlexaCRM
