Word Templates - GP2010

Has anyone experienced unexplained loss of data in the GP2010 Word Templates? In the last 3 months, I have created SOP and PO word templates for 2 companies, emailed the document as both a pdf or word document to the customer for approval, only to find that some weeks later when the user start using the template, some data and text fields are missing. There is no pattern to what is missing, some report header text and data fields, some Body, some Page footer. Fortunately, I have the saved email with the modified template attached to refer back to, otherwise I would think I was going crazy!

The reports dictionary is unchanged, mapped to a shared location on the server, the Report Writer version of the modified layout prints fine, and if I open the Word template in GP to modify it, that too looks perfect.

Any suggestions?

    Sarah,

    Are you making changes to the underlying Report Writer report at the same time, adding text and other fields before adding these to the Word Template?  When the Word Template is implemented at the clients, is the Report Writer report definition exported and imported at the clients to maintain the integrety of fields (if added in Report Writer)?

    Yes, I did the changes in RW first, then exported the XML  - then used that to modify the word template. No other changes have been made to RW version.  I performed all the work on the customer's server and last month, I even trained the customer's staff on their workstations, and the template ran fine then.

    I feel sure it's something simple I am overlooking, yet it has happened with 2 different customers in the last 3 months. None of my other customers are having issues.

    If you can go into Report Writer and all custom fields are still in place, I would take a back-up of the Word Template and use the XML trick to re-sync the Word Template with the Report Writer report.
