The Card Defender solution for RMS not only makes your credit card processing more secure but also allows you to process EMV and contactless payments.

The only solution we're aware of that can do EMV and iPay with Microsoft RMS today!

What processors is the terminal certified to?

Correction - which gateway has certified the device and to which processors?

    Christine,

We have live deployments with Mercury, Heartland, First Data, Global and Elavon currently.  Right now we support EMV for both TSYS and Heartland, more are being added soon.

There is NO GATEWAY REQUIRED - and the solution doesn't charge any kind of per transaction fee.

If you’re a retailer and have never heard these names when it comes to who processes your cards – very often another company represents these bigger companies that are behind the scenes so if you don’t see your processors name above – that doesn’t mean we don’t work with them.

90+% of all RMS users either process through Heartland, Mercury, or TSYS which we DO support.

What versions of RMS are compatible?

    ShawnK,

Currently Card Defender is supported on any version of 2.0.X however theoretically it should support older versions as well.  If you are running version 1.3 we'd be willing to do some testing to verify.

older versions of RMS are not PCI Compliant

    Christine,

CardDefender works by making it so that credit card data never touches the POS or the computer, which are typically most vulnerable parts of your computer systems.  The card data is only handled by our payment terminals which are built to do one thing and one thing only - process credit cards, and do so securely!  As an example, if the software code is ever modified on our terminals, there are Checksums which verify it’s running the original unaltered code, if it’s not, the application stops working altogether!+

    Thanks for the questions Christine,

Harvey is correct.  As long as the solution is deployed properly, the POS software is outside of the scope of PCI which is awesome for users of older versions of RMS as they no longer need to to apply PCI rules to the RMS system as it never touches card holder data.

Not saying users should not apply common sense security practices to all of their systems / networks but our solution falls under SAQB-IP and keeps the POS and the majority of the network out of scope and therefore the standard PCI rules do not apply to those pieces of the technology.

We had the luxury of doing our first deployment of this technology with a government entity which also provided access to security / PCI consultants and penetration testers - these experts validated our solution as falling under SAQB-IP (again, assuming the proper deployment methods).

If you have other specific questions about PCI, please feel free to contact us - you know how to reach our team :)  Thanks again!

    Hi Harvey,

We are currently working through the Microsoft Dynamics Payment Connector (DynamicsOnlineConnector) and specifically with Bank of America as the credit card processor (First Data I believe). Would this system work on this setup? or would we have to change merchant providers and all of our settings etc?

    Thanks,

    Grier

Processor agnostic. Yes, you can use with BAMS / First Data.
