Sales Credit Memo, External Document No not available

We have set Ext. Document No. to be mandatory in Sales & Receivable Setup. Works great on Sales Orders, but the filed is missing on Credit Memos so Credit Memos can not be posted. The field is no available for Personalization. How can this be fixed?
