Sales Order Reservations

hi all

Scenario:

i have 10 sales orders: 1- 10

with 1 sales line each - product ABC

quantity on each sales order : 1

Qty available in stock: 8

i want to release these 10 sales orders to the wax enabled warehouse at the same time, and allocate stock based on a hierarchy/rules- is this possible? and if so by using what ax feature? and what allocation rules can i use eg customer hierarchy/earliest order date etc

and what feed back does ax give me to the 2 sales orders that will not get stock? eg with our old wms system we have a very visual system where fulfilled lines go green, part fulfilled Amber and short lines red - does AX do anything similar for feedback?

any advice appreciated

m

    RE: Sales Order Reservations

    Hi raff,

The stock will go to the sales orders which the stock is reserved to. If you do not use manual reservation (and if AX is not set to reserve stock when the sales order line is created) you can get the 'Automatic release of sales orders' periodic job in the Warehouse module to reserve stock for you. It will reserve stock as it releases the orders to the warehouse (and you can configure it to not release lines where stock could not be reserved).

You need to set the 'Select' on the job to limit the sales orders on which it runs (e.g. by delivery date, probably those with a 'Document status' of 'Confirmation' or greater, etc.). And on the 'Sorting' tab of the select, you define which sequence it will release (and reserve) sales orders. The default is to release orders in Sales order number sequence. But you could easily change this to any property of the sales order or customer that you can think of.

If you set the job to run in batch, you could configure separate instances of it to run one after the other... the first time for priority A customers, the second time for priority B etc...

In short, if you use the job, you can use almost any rule you can think of.

After a sales order is released, its 'Release status' updates. If the release status is 'Released', all the lines have been released to the warehouse (meaning stock was available for all lines). Orders which are 'Partially released' or 'Open' did not have all the stock (or, in the case of 'Open', AX has not attempted to release yet). To see which lines did not release, hit the 'Line quantity' button in the Action pane. Lines which are 'On order' did not get any stock (and therefore are the ones that are not released).

I forgot to say, 'Customer classification group' has traditionally been used for prioitising customers for release of orders for picking, and appears on the Query of the Auto-release job by default.
