Tariff Number Formats

Hi All - hopefully a simple one here, but I'm having trouble tracking down best practices when using the "Tariff No." field on the Item Card.  

What are some recommendations on formats when it comes to this field? For example do you enter your tariff numbers with:

  • Periods: 8211.92.9060
  • Spaces: 8211 92 9060
  • Straight Numerical: 8211929060

I'm leaning towards straight numerical, but I think the period or space formats provide better clarity on the headings, sub headings, etc.

    I don't think there is a recommendation on the format of those on BC, but usually, as per the standard they use period or space

    Hello,

    Adding to Suresh's reply, this depends on the document you are printing. I know for my customers they have asked that the period be present to match what the Customs and Government see.

    Thank you for the reply.  I've run into issues in other types of programs where pre-formatting certain fields leads to issues elsewhere.  Glad to hear it's likely not an issue in NAV, at least for this field.
